Record it live
Choose the activity, tap Start and review every metric before you save. Outdoors, Fortior tracks your GPS route, distance and pace when you allow location, and a Bluetooth heart-rate strap adds live heart rate. Running, cycling, rowing, swimming and dozens more are covered.
Bring in what you already track
Import workouts from Apple Health, which is how Apple Watch sessions arrive, and recent activities from Strava. Fortior matches the same session from different sources, so it isn't counted twice. Forgot to hit Start? Add a past activity.
Publish to Strava or Apple Health
Send a finished session to Apple Health or Strava from the activity, or set your defaults in Settings under Workout Publishing. If Apple Health or WHOOP already forwards workouts to Strava, Fortior warns you that direct publishing can create a duplicate.
Heart-rate zones from your own numbers
Zones come from your threshold heart rate when Fortior has one, otherwise from your resting and maximum heart rate. A session with heart-rate readings shows the minutes you spent in each of five zones, not just one average.
Two load scores, one view
Every cardio session gets a Cardio Load Score from your heart rate, and every lifting workout gets a Muscular Load Score, each out of 100. Progress shows the last 28 days of both. They stay separate because they measure different kinds of work.
A VO₂ max estimate, with its source
Fortior shows your VO₂ max estimate with where it came from: your Apple Watch's reading in Apple Health, or your own runs when there isn't one. It's an estimate, not a lab test, so the trend tells you more than any single number.
Your lifting days get suggestions too
Strength sessions get a suggested weight for each exercise from your recent sets. Readiness counts your cardio as well as your lifting, and can nudge those weights by at most 5% either way.
Questions
Does it record GPS?
Yes, on your iPhone. Outdoor sessions record a GPS route, distance and pace when you allow location. For indoor machine sessions you enter distance, speed, power or incline when you finish.
Does it work with my Apple Watch?
Through Apple Health, yes. Workouts your watch saves there can be imported along with heart rate, and Fortior uses your watch's VO₂ max estimate when Apple Health has one. The Fortior Apple Watch app follows a lifting workout you start on your iPhone.
Will I get duplicates if I use Strava?
Fortior matches the same session across Apple Health, WHOOP and Strava, so one workout isn't counted three times. Duplicates in Strava itself come from publishing twice: if Apple Health or WHOOP already forwards workouts to Strava, turn off direct Strava publishing in Settings.
Do I need a chest strap?
No. Without heart rate, Fortior still logs duration, distance and pace, and scores the session from how hard it felt (a 1 to 10 rating) times its minutes. Heart-rate readings from a strap or from Apple Health add your time in each zone.
Can I keep using Strava?
Yes. Connect it in Settings under Integrations. Fortior reads your recent activities, shows Relative Effort under Strava's own name rather than converting it, and publishes to Strava only if you choose.
Is this medical advice?
No. Zones, load scores and VO₂ max are estimates from your own data, for training. Talk with a qualified professional about medical questions.
