Analyze your workouts with ChatGPT or Claude
Connect Fortior to Claude or ChatGPT and ask about your own training, nutrition and recovery. The connection is read-only, you approve it on your iPhone, and you choose which kinds of data the tool can see.
Ready to connect? The step-by-step setup lives on one page: Connect Fortior to Claude or ChatGPT. This guide covers what the connection does and what to ask once it is live.
Open the connection guideHow to analyze workout data with ChatGPT or Claude
Fortior has a read-only AI connector. You add its address to Claude, ChatGPT or another AI tool that supports remote connectors, approve the connection in the Fortior app, and then ask questions about your own training, meals and recovery. The AI reads your numbers from Fortior instead of you pasting them in, so you can use Claude or ChatGPT with your own fitness data.
The connector address is https://mcp.fortior.app/mcp. It signs in with OAuth, so you never paste a password or key.
What you need
- Fortior Premium or a paid Coach plan. Plans and prices appear in the app.
- Cloud sync turned on in Settings. The tool reads only what Cloud sync has uploaded.
- An AI tool that allows custom connectors. Claude's Free plan allows one custom connector. ChatGPT offers custom MCP servers on some plans only.
Setup in short
Claude
- Open Customize → Connectors on claude.ai or the Claude desktop app.
- Choose + Add → Add custom connector, name it Fortior and paste the address.
- Choose Connect. Claude opens a Fortior page with a QR code and an 8-character code.
ChatGPT
- Open Plugins on chatgpt.com and choose + → Add custom MCP server.
- Paste the address, set sign-in to OAuth, and choose Create as a plugin.
- Install the plugin. ChatGPT opens the same Fortior approval page.
Approve on your iPhone
Scan the QR code, or open Fortior, go to Settings → Connected AI tools and type the 8-character code. Choose which kinds of data this tool can read, then tap Approve. Menu names in Claude and ChatGPT change from time to time, so see the connection guide if a step looks different.
Your categories are workouts and plans, equipment, readiness check-ins, sleep and recovery, cardio and daily activity, body composition, nutrition, health labs and vitals, private notes, and workout video details. Your units, goals and sport are always shared so answers make sense. Five extra switches stay off unless you turn them on for this tool: cardio routes, heart-rate streams, progress photos, meal photos and stills from workout videos. Each needs its own category switched on. A photo switch uploads shrunk copies without location or camera details so the tool can view them, and turning it off or disconnecting deletes them. Your original photos and video files stay on your phone.
What to ask: example prompts
Each prompt below maps to a real connector tool. You do not need to name the tool. The AI picks it.
Fortior also tells the AI to start from what you are working toward, ask you a few short questions when it needs to, and suggest one next step at a time. Some tools also list Fortior's ready-made prompts, such as Get to know me, Progress dashboard and What's holding me back. If you connected before October 29, 2026, reconnect to see them.
| Ask | Tool it uses | Data switch needed |
|---|---|---|
| "What should I focus on right now? Ask me what you need to know first." | get_coaching_brief | Any you allowed |
| "Build me a dashboard of the progress that matters most for my goal." | get_coaching_brief, get_series | Workouts and plans, plus any others the goal needs |
| "What is most likely holding back my bench press, and what is the evidence?" | get_coaching_brief, get_series, get_exercise_history | Workouts and plans |
| "Summarize my last 7 days of training, sleep and eating, and tell me what you could not see." | summarize_period | Any you allowed |
| "Over the last 12 weeks, which muscles got the fewest working sets, and how did my weekly volume change?" | get_training_analytics | Workouts and plans |
| "Which lifts reached a higher estimated one-rep max than they did in the year before?" | get_training_analytics | Workouts and plans |
| "Show my barbell back squat over the last six months with the strongest set of each session." | get_exercise_history | Workouts and plans |
| "What did I average for calories, protein, carbohydrate and fat over the last 14 days, and which foods supplied the most calories?" | get_nutrition | Nutrition |
| "Which vitamins and minerals showed up in my meals this month, and on how many days was each one reported?" | get_nutrition | Nutrition |
| "Compare my HRV and sleep on the nights before my hardest sessions with my other nights. Treat it as an association, not a cause." | get_sleep_recovery, list_workouts | Sleep and recovery, workouts |
| "What does my program have scheduled over the next four weeks?" | get_training_plan | Workouts and plans |
| "Summarize my cardio for the last month: distance, pace and average heart rate by activity." | get_cardio | Cardio and daily activity |
| "Export all my nutrition records from the last 90 days as a table." | export_records | Nutrition |
| "Show me my front-pose progress photos from the last three months, side by side in date order, and describe what looks different." | list_media, get_media_image | Body composition, with Progress photos on |
If a prompt needs a category you left off, the AI is told to ask you to turn it on in Fortior and reconnect. Numbers usually come back in kilograms and kilometers. Ask for pounds or miles if you prefer.
Exporting everything you shared
For a full export, ask the AI to export one category at a time, such as nutrition, workouts and plans, or sleep and recovery. It reads the records page by page exactly as Fortior stores them, including each food's macros and micronutrients and every logged set. Photos and video files are not part of an export. Cardio routes and raw sensor streams are included only if you turned them on for that tool, and photos are available to the AI only through the photo switches, one picture at a time.
Privacy, limits and control
- Read-only. A connected tool can read and export what you approved. It cannot add, change or delete anything in Fortior.
- The data goes to that AI provider. What you approve is sent to the tool you connected, and that provider's own privacy terms apply from then on. Share only categories you are comfortable giving that provider.
- Fortior does not see your chat. It sees which connector tools are called and the data requested, and keeps a security log of each request for 90 days.
- You can disconnect any time. In Settings → Connected AI tools, tap Revoke next to a tool. Its access ends on its next request, and any photo copies made for it are deleted.
- Fresh data needs a sync. If the AI cannot see your latest workout, open Fortior while online, let it sync, and ask again.
AI tools can misread data or add general advice that did not come from Fortior. Check any number that matters against the app. Answers about your data are educational, not medical advice, so talk with a qualified professional about medical questions.
In the app: open Settings from the profile icon at the top left of any tab, then tap Connected AI tools. It shows the connector address with a Copy button, short setup steps, and every connection with when it was last used.
