Cardio, Apple Health and wearables

Record cardio live or add it afterwards, connect Apple Health, WHOOP, Oura and Strava, and see what each one brings into Fortior.

Recording cardio

How do I record a run, ride or sport?

Tap Start Cardio on Today, or open Train → Cardio and tap Start live cardio. Choose the activity and, where it applies, whether you are indoors or outdoors. Nothing records until you tap Start. Duration tracks automatically; outdoor activities use GPS for the route, distance and pace when you allow location; indoor machine sessions let you enter distance, speed, power or incline when you finish. Heart rate and Bluetooth straps need the matching iPhone permissions. Tap Stop & Review to check every metric, add an effort rating and save. An interrupted session shows Resume Cardio.

How do I add a session I forgot to record?

Open Train → Cardio and tap Add past activity. Choose the type and the start and end times, add distance, notes and effort if you like, and turn on Use Apple Health readings from this time to bring in heart rate recorded for that interval. Heart rate you type by hand stays as the fallback.

Can I send a cardio activity to Apple Health or Strava?

Open a saved activity and tap the Connected apps button (two arrows). It can send the activity to Apple Health or, once Strava is connected, to Strava, and it can refresh WHOOP and Strava scores. Settings → Workout Publishing sets the defaults on Finish Workout. If a send may not have gone through, Fortior asks you to check the other app first, so you don't create a duplicate.

Apple Health

How do I connect Apple Health?

Open Settings → Integrations, find the Apple Health row, tap Connect, and allow the data types you want. Fortior can read workouts and heart rate, sleep, daily activity, body composition, VO₂ max, nutrition other apps write to Health, and supported vitals. With your permission it writes your completed lifting and cardio sessions back to Apple Health. A connected row says Import enabled and offers Refresh, plus a menu to disconnect; existing records stay unless you also choose to remove imported data.

How do I change Apple Health permissions?

Apple Health doesn't tell apps which permissions you denied, so an empty category can mean no data or no access. Open the iPhone Settings app, then Health → Data Access & Devices → Fortior, and allow the data types you need. Back in Fortior, tap Refresh on the Apple Health row.

How do InBody and MyFitnessPal reach Fortior?

Through Apple Health; they have no separate sign-in in Fortior. Turn on body composition writing in InBody, or the Apple Health connection in MyFitnessPal, then grant Apple Health access in Fortior. Other devices reach Fortior only when their own app writes to Apple Health.

WHOOP, Oura and Strava

How do I connect WHOOP, Oura or Strava?

In Settings → Integrations, tap Connect beside the provider and sign in with it. Then tap Sync connected sources; a sync reads the most recent 30 days. Fortior also syncs when you open the app. Provider imports need an internet connection.

What does each one bring in?

SourceWhat it brings into Fortior
Apple HealthWorkouts, heart rate, sleep, daily activity, body composition, VO₂ max, nutrition and vitals you allow, including InBody and MyFitnessPal data
WHOOPSleep, recovery with HRV, and Strain for scored workouts
OuraSleep, HRV, sleep score and readiness score
StravaYour recent activities as cardio, with Relative Effort

Provider scores keep their own names and scales: Fortior never converts WHOOP Strain or Strava Relative Effort into its own metrics. Fortior can also publish workouts to Strava, and WHOOP receives workouts through Apple Health.

How do I reconnect a provider?

If a provider rejects Fortior's saved sign-in, its row in Settings → Integrations says Needs to be reconnected and offers Reconnect; Dismiss clears the notice if you revoked access on purpose. To start fresh, tap Disconnect on the row, then Connect and sign in again. Disconnecting stops new imports, and records already imported stay in Fortior. Afterwards tap Sync connected sources.

Why do I see duplicate workouts?

Fortior matches the same session from Apple Health, WHOOP and Strava by provider ID, or by type, start time and duration, so one workout can carry WHOOP Strain and Strava Relative Effort without three copies. A session you recorded yourself is merged with the matching wearable workout, and what you entered is kept. Duplicates in Strava usually come from two routes: if Apple Health or WHOOP already forwards workouts to Strava, turning on direct Strava publishing can create a second activity. Settings → Workout Publishing warns you; pick one route.

In the app: open the profile icon, then Integrations for Apple Health, WHOOP, Oura and Strava. Train → Cardio holds Start live cardio, Add past activity and a sync button for Apple Health, WHOOP and Strava.

Heart rate, sleep and recovery figures in Fortior are estimates from your own data and connected sources. They are educational and not medical advice.
