Troubleshooting
Fixes for sync that isn't showing on another device, imports that failed, connections showing stale data and numbers that look wrong, plus how to report a bug.
Common fixes
- Rebuild derived analytics with Progress → Recompute.
- Review Apple Health access in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.
- Reconnect optional WHOOP, Oura or Strava integrations from Fortior Settings → Integrations.
- Cloud sync requires a signed-in account and the separate Cloud sync switch.
Numbers that look wrong
What does Progress → Recompute do?
Open Progress and tap Recompute, the circular arrow at the top. It rebuilds estimates Fortior derives from your logs: estimated strength, fitness and fatigue, cardio load, physiology estimates, carryover and recovery effects. It doesn't change anything you logged. If a Progress view says your records are safe and offers Recompute, tap it.
Why do my numbers look wrong?
Check these first:
- Reps in reserve. Blank counts as 2 and 0 means to failure, so a stray 0 or a blank moves an estimate. The table in Logging workouts shows how much.
- Bodyweight. Pull-ups, push-ups and dips need a current bodyweight from Today → Log → Weight. Without one, Fortior holds back load-based estimates.
- Units. Check Settings → Units & Preferences. An import with no unit column is read as kilograms, and the Apple Watch app shows kilograms.
- Warm-ups and planned sets. Warm-ups are left out of calculations, and a planned set doesn't count until you tap its checkmark.
- Very high-rep sets. Rep-based formulas cover up to 11 reps to failure (reps plus RIR), so longer sets say less about your max.
- Duplicate workouts. See Cardio, Apple Health and wearables.
Strength, VO₂ max, body-fat and meal-photo results are estimates, not lab or clinical measurements.
Sync and other devices
Why isn't my workout showing on my other device?
- On both phones, open Settings and check Account. Both should say Signed in and show the same Verified email.
- Turn on Cloud sync under Account on each phone. It is off by default and set per phone.
- Put both phones online. Open Fortior on the first, let it sync, then open it on the second. Fortior syncs when you open or return to the app, no more often than about every ten minutes, and it waits while a workout is in progress.
- Changes made offline upload the next time sync runs with a connection. Before signing out, let pending changes sync; Settings warns you when some haven't.
More in Account and Cloud sync.
Imports and connections
Why did my import fail?
Open Settings → Data → Import training history, choose the Source format that matches your file (Generic CSV, Strong CSV, Hevy CSV, Boostcamp CSV, RTS-style CSV or Fortior JSON), then pick the file. Fortior shows a preview with warnings, and nothing changes until you confirm.
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Could not be read as UTF-8 CSV or Fortior JSON | Export the file again as UTF-8 CSV |
| Required columns are missing | Add a date column and an exercise column |
| No valid workout sets were found | Check the date, exercise, weight and reps columns |
| Not a supported Fortior export | Use a JSON file exported from Fortior |
| This exact file was already imported | Nothing to do; no records were changed |
A warning that no weight unit column was found means weights are read as kilograms, so confirm before importing. See Switch from Strong or Hevy.
Why is a connection showing stale or missing data?
- Go to Settings → Integrations and tap Sync connected sources. On Today you can also pull down or tap the sync icon. Wait for it to finish.
- If a provider says Needs to be reconnected, tap Reconnect.
- If it still looks stale, tap Disconnect on its row, then Connect and sign in again.
- For Apple Health, open the iPhone Settings app, then Health → Data Access & Devices → Fortior, allow the data types you need, and tap Refresh on the Apple Health row.
- Give providers time. WHOOP can take a while to score a workout, and Strava Relative Effort may arrive later. For WHOOP Strain on a Fortior workout, save the workout to Apple Health and turn on workout imports in the WHOOP app.
- If data is still missing after reconnecting, send feedback with the provider's name and the date of the missing data.
Reporting a bug
How do I report a bug?
Open Settings and tap Submit feedback, or use the form on the Help page. It opens in your browser. Describe the screen you were on, what you tapped, what you expected and what happened instead. Add your Fortior version (the Version line in Settings), your iPhone model and iOS version, and, for a connection problem, the provider's name and the date of the missing data.
What should I not send?
Don't send health records, progress photos, credentials, private notes or other sensitive information through an unverified support channel. That includes passwords, sign-in codes and tokens. Describe the problem in words and leave out anything private. Apple handles billing and refunds for App Store purchases; see Fortior Premium.
In the app: Progress → Recompute rebuilds derived numbers. Settings → Integrations → Sync connected sources refreshes your connections. Settings → Data → Import training history opens the importer, and Settings → Submit feedback reports a problem.
Fortior shows estimates based on your own logs and connected sources. They are educational and not medical advice.
