Privacy, export and deleting data
Fortior is local-first: your records live on your iPhone unless you turn on Cloud sync. Fortior doesn't sell your data, serve ads or track you across apps or websites.
This page covers where your data lives, how to export it, and how to remove it, disconnect services and revoke access.
Where your data lives
Where does Fortior store my data?
On your iPhone, in a database that belongs to your account on that phone. Progress-photo originals and nutrition photos you choose to keep sit in protected app storage and are excluded from Cloud sync and exports. Cloud sync, hosted AI and sharing with a coach are separate capabilities with separate controls, and each stays off until you turn it on. A copy of a progress photo leaves your phone only while you share progress photos with a coach or allow them for a connected AI tool. Copies of kept nutrition photos and of still frames from workout videos leave only while you allow them for a connected AI tool, and the original photos and video files never do.
What leaves my phone if I turn nothing on?
Signed out, nothing syncs and no usage analytics are sent. If you're signed in, Share usage analytics is on by default. It sends daily counts of the features you use, never your workouts, meals, notes, health values or anything you type. Turn it off under Settings → Usage Analytics. Online food search sends the search needed for that lookup, and a barcode with no saved match may be sent on its own to Open Food Facts.
Export your Fortior data
How do I export everything?
Open Settings → Data and tap Export complete JSON + CSV, then choose where to save or share the files. Export is free. You get two files:
fortior-complete.json: your complete records, including workouts and cardio, programs, meals and nutrition, body measurements, sleep and recovery, health metrics, lab entries and coach relationship history.workout-history.csv: one row for each completed set, with weight in kilograms and in your display unit, reps, reps in reserve and notes. It opens in a spreadsheet.
Progress photos and the nutrition photos you kept aren't included. Derived analytics aren't either, because Fortior rebuilds them from your records.
How do I export my workout clips?
Tap Export workout media in the same Data section. It is unavailable until you have a clip. Cloud sync isn't proof that every clip is backed up, so export the ones you want to keep.
Can I bring an export back into Fortior?
Yes. Settings → Data → Import training history accepts a Fortior JSON file, as well as CSV files from Strong, Hevy and Boostcamp. Fortior shows a preview first, changes nothing until you confirm, and recognizes a file you already imported. For other apps, see importing from Strong and Hevy.
Remove data or delete your account
What's the difference between removing data from my phone and deleting my account?
| Detail | Remove data from this phone | Permanently delete account |
|---|---|---|
| Where | Settings → Data | Bottom of Settings, when signed in |
| On this phone | Clears your workouts, recovery sessions, sets, exercises, profile, provider connections and sync position, plus photos and workout media stored here | Removes this account's data from the phone |
| Your cloud account | Not deleted. Records already synced stay in it. | Deleted, with server data, shared progress-photo copies, synced workout videos and photo copies made for AI tools |
| Afterward | Fortior starts fresh on this phone, as on first launch | You are signed out and the account no longer exists |
Photos and workout media aren't part of exports or Cloud sync, so removing data deletes them from the phone for good. Export first if you want a copy of your records.
How do I permanently delete my account?
Scroll to the bottom of Settings, tap Permanently delete account and confirm. Account and Cloud sync walks through it. A few records can't be linked back to you afterward: usage entries lose their account link and remain only as anonymous cost totals, and anonymous meal-photo calibration records can't be found or deleted by meal or account.
Disconnect integrations and AI tools
How do I disconnect WHOOP, Oura, Strava or Apple Health?
Open Settings → Integrations. For WHOOP, Oura or Strava, tap Disconnect on its row. For Apple Health, tap the ellipsis (⋯) button, then choose Disconnect import, or Disconnect and remove imported data to also remove Apple Health, InBody and MyFitnessPal records from your account.
Disconnecting stops future imports, and records already imported stay until you remove them. To withdraw the Apple Health permission itself, use iPhone Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Fortior.
How do I revoke Claude or ChatGPT's access?
Open Settings → Connected AI tools, find the tool under Connected tools, tap Revoke and confirm with Revoke access. Its access stops on its next request, any photo copies made for it are deleted, and you can connect it again later. You can still revoke if you no longer have Premium.
What a tool already received stays with that tool's provider under its own privacy terms, so delete chats on that side if you want them gone. Fortior keeps a security log of connector requests for 90 days and deletes connections and logs with your account. To set one up, see Connect Fortior to Claude or ChatGPT.
How do I turn off AI or review what Fortior remembers?
Switch off Enable Ask Fortior + AI analysis under Settings → AI features. Your records stay. To see or edit what Fortior remembers about you, such as goals and constraints, open Settings → Memory → Review & memory.
Privacy requests
How do I make a privacy request?
For anything the Settings controls don't cover, use the support form. Settings → Submit feedback opens the same form. Describe what you need, and don't include health records, progress photos, passwords or other sensitive information.
In the app: export, remove and import controls are under Settings → Data. Permanently delete account is at the bottom of Settings. Connection controls are under Settings → Integrations and Settings → Connected AI tools.
The Privacy Policy is the full statement of how Fortior handles your data. Never send health records, progress photos or credentials through a support message.
